TCM Hosting Special Screening Of On The Waterfront; When Will We See Criterion’s Blu-ray Announced?

While we haven’t heard much about Criterion’s pending Blu-ray release of the iconic Elia Kazan film, On The Waterfront, outside of say the wacky drawing revealing plans for the release and the intriguing announcement that their release will feature multiple aspect ratios, that hasn’t meant that the film will be out of the public eye.

TCM is teaming up with Verizon to host a special screening of the film on Tuesday, November 13 at the Byham Theatre in Pittsburgh, PA. The screening is free (tickets can be purchased HERE), and will feature an introduction from TCM host Ben Mankiewicz and also star Eva Marie Saint, whose performance would garner the actress a Oscar win.

Now, with this screening being announced, one would have to wonder, when exactly will Criterion be revealing their much talked about home video release of this Kazan-directed masterpiece. Could it be only a few days later, as Criterion announces their February 2013 release slate, or will we have to wait to see the Blu-ray later on during the holiday season?   Only time will tell.
