Terrence Malick Reportedly Working On A New Project With Christian Bale

I never thought I’d be saying this, but Terrence Malick is one busy little bee these days.

Along with a new, Ben Affleck starring project (The Burial) waiting in the wings, it appears as though he’s found himself a gig for the early part of 2012.  Twitch is reporting that Christian Bale (The New World), is in talks to join the cast of Malick’s upcoming film, another yet to be titled secret project.  The film will be shooting in early 2012, following the wrapping of Malick’s next, The Burial, and will follow a man and a woman, with the latter being eyed by Rooney Mara, Haley Bennet, Clemence Poesy and Mia Wasikowska respectively.

Now, this is all kinds of exciting.  Bale is one of the more interesting actors within the film world, and one that deserves more projects like this, instead of fun, but uninteresting, blockbusters.  And it should go without saying that there is no filmmaker working today quite like Malick.  The Tree Of Life is a masterpiece and is easily Malick’s most personal film to date.  Details are scarce now, as they are with any film from the director, but here’s to hoping it can live up to this crazy potential.
