Trailer Finally Arrives For You’re Next

Of all the films to play this year’s SXSW Film Festival, one of the most talked about, or at least most anticipated, films had to have been Adam Wingard’s massively hyped horror picture, You’re Next. And now, it’s finally on its way to theaters.

Lionsgate has finally debuted the first trailer for the film, which arrives on August 23, and while I’m not a huge fan of the film, this trailer is a blast.

With a superb screenplay from Simon Barrett, the film stars Sharni Vinson, AJ Bowen and a cavalcade of others as a group gathering together for dinner who find their lives turned upside down when they come under attack from masked killers.

Personally, while this trailer does hint at some of the events of the film, I’m not sure it strikes at the right tone. The film is far more comedic than this trailer hints at, and while it’s a tough balance to accentuate here, it’s important to note. The cast is superb, and with some inventive kills, this picture should play like gangbusters when it arrives in a few months. Just expect something a little bit different.
