Trailer For Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects Arrives

As exciting and truly superb this film looks, it’s hard not to find the release of the first trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s second to last (allegedly) feature film effort, Side Effects as being rather bittersweet.

The film stars the pair of Channing Tatum (Soderbergh’s muse as of late) and Rooney Mara, and follows the story of a wife and husband who are reunited after the latter is released from the clink. However, things go off the hinges, and what follows appears to be one hell of a thriller penned by Scott Z. Burns, of Contagion fame.

The trailer has arrived, and slides some of the focus on the co-stars, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones, both of whom look superb here. Law’s character appears to have a rather large impact on the film’s narrative, making this look as though there will be something deep beneath this film’s surface going on. Taking on a similar tone to something like the aforementioned Contagion, this appears to be a far smaller scale narrative but with the same thriller sensibilities. Count me in.
