Werner Herzog’s Into The Abyss Opening In November

Talk about having some pull.

According to Deadline, Werner Herzog and Sundance Selects will be seeing their latest production, the well received documentary Into The Abyss, released to the wild not in 2012 as originally expected, but this year!   The film will now be screening in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on November 11th.

That’s right, with Herzog’s Cave Of Forgotten Dreams also hitting this year, Herzog has seen two different films hit theaters in the calendar year, both of which found themselves the ire of much appreciation and loving reviews.

Personally, while I found Cave to be utterly inspired and inspiring, it’s Abyss that I truly think will be the gem of 2011’s documentary slate, as it seems to be the right blend of compelling narrative and philosophical discussion that Herzog’s career has been chock full of.   As a huge fan of the auteur, this is definitely a film I can’t wait to check out, and the subject matter; the film follows the story of a group of Texas death row inmates, only adds to that anticipation.

What do you think?
