Criterion Now – Episode 109 – September 2020 Announcements, Spike Lee

Brad McDermott and Will Remmers join Aaron to talk about the latest. We dive into the delicious September 2020 month, anchored by WCP3. We also talk about the Barnes and Noble sale and debate whether it can be depended on for summer and fall months. We get into the prospect of adding Bollywood to the collection, as teased by Lee Kline on Roger Deakins’ podcast. Finally we end the show talking at length about Spike Lee and Black Lives Matter.

I am a somewhat educated Criterion dork, with a History and Film Studies bachelor's degree and plenty of self-education over the years. My tastes are all over the map. Probably my favorite is 1930s French Poetic Realism, but I like everything from noir, to animation, to horror, westerns, and modern film. Usually I prefer film that challenges and requires something of the viewer.
