First Look At Steve McQueen’s Shame

With the Toronto International Film Festival announcing part of its 2011 schedule, arguably the most intriguing member of that slate happens to be Steve McQueen’s follow up to his brilliant debut, Hunger, entitled Shame.

The film stars Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan, and follows a man as he deals with his addiction to sex, and the effect that that has on his life. Now, thanks to TIFF and their website, we have our first look at the film, and it looks great.

We have a collection of photos from the film, and while they aren’t insanely stylish, they do look really good. I think this is easily one of 2011’s most interesting releases, and if the script is anything to be believed, we are in for something special. The screenplay is an odd blend of Cronenberg-style sex and McQueen naturalism, and feels like a film unlike anything we’ve seen in recent memory. The cast is impeccable, and this should definitely be a film that will play as some erotically charged counter programming from all the stiff Oscar bait that we’ll be getting this fall.
