First Footage From Todd Solondz’s Dark Horse Hits

With the film world getting the chance to take another look at the recent and much talked about film from Todd Solondz, Life During Wartime, thanks to the Criterion Collection, we now finally have our first look at the beloved and controversial cult indie auteur’s next film.

Entitled Dark Horse, the film will debut at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, and stars Christopher Walken, Mia Farrow, Selma Blair, Jordan Gelber, Justin Bartha, Zachary Booth, Aasif Mandvi and Donna Murphy.   The film follows a man who is attempting to have a relationship with a woman in a similar living-with-parents situation.

The clip itself isn’t really all that much to look at, but it does definitely fit perfectly within Solondz’s latest pieces.   As a fan, of sorts, of Life During Wartime and Solondz as a filmmaker in general, this is definitely one of the more intriguing films making the late year festival rounds.   It stars one hell of a cast, and anything that Solondz is behind is something to be of interest.

What do you think?

  • I’m a Solondz enthusiast but I gotta call you on this “one hell of a cast” it’s much weaker than Life during Wartime and probably his weakest cast to date. But I will definitely tune in regardless.

  • Sure, I agree it’s not his best, but I still dig it.  I really like everyone who they put in here.  It will be interesting to see what Bartha can do here.
