Trailer For Roman Polanski’s Carnage

It’s nice to see Roman Polanski back in the world of comedies.  While he’s made his name in thrillers and other dramatic fair, and the title of Carnage does hint at a film a lot darker than what we now know it to be, it’s a comedy that has this writer thinking we may be in for something really special here.

Thanks to Twitch, we have a brand new trailer for Polanski’s take on the Yasmina Reza play, Carnage, starring Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz, and not only is it a gorgeous trailer, but it hints at a film that seems unlike anything we’ve seen in quite some time.

Featuring what looks like four off the wall performances, Carnage follows the story of two couples who come together for dinner one night, after their respective children get into a schoolyard fight.  The premise is really interesting, and should feed the hunger that has ailed fans of dinner table comedies (I’m thinking of something like Coffee and Cigarettes, or other pieces), and is easily one of this writer’s most anticipated releases of this year.  I really find this trailer to be absolutely killer, and here’s to hoping it can live up to the potential as seen in this trailer.
