Criterion is the gift that keeps on giving to the BAMcinématek. Hot on the heels of their Jan Němec retrospective that included a few films from the Pearls of the Czech New Wave Eclipse set, the good folks at the cinématek have announced a series entitled “Kid Stuff” that just so happens to be made up entirely of films in the Criterion Collection.
Lasting from November 28th to December 2nd, the series is meant to cater to cinephile families and movie lovers alike who are “stuck in the city for the holiday,” and includes films by auteurs whose work evokes particularly strong themes of childhood.
Included in the series are Vittorio De Sica’s Bicycle Thieves, Victor Erice’s The Spirit of the Beehive, Jean Renoir’s The River, the 312-minute version of Ingmar Bergman’s Fanny and Alexander, and Ken Loach’s Kes.
