Our annual New Years present from the Criterion Collection has come one day early this year!
As usual, the Criterion Collection New Years Drawing from Jason Polan teases at a number of upcoming releases (announced, rumored, and unknown). I’ll do my best to gather the best guesses in this article, so feel free to comment below.

Let’s pick it apart below:
Part 1
A. Three Kings (IMDB) / Wim Wenders’s Kings of the Road (IMDB)
B. The Kid (IMDB / Criterion) / McCabe & Mrs. Miller (IMDB)
C. Fantastic Planet (IMDB)
D. Lone Wolf and Cub films
E. Valley of the Dolls (IMDB) / Bubble (IMDB)
Part 2
F. Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (IMDB) / Only Angels Have Wings (IMDB) / The Exterminating Angel (IMDB)
G. The Manchurian Candidate (IMDB) / JFK (IMDB) / Alice? (IMDB) / John Waters’s Eat Your Makeup (IMDB)
H. The New World (IMDB)
Part 3
I. Phoenix (IMDB)
J. Easy Rider (IMDB) – Standalone Blu-ray Release
K. Bicycle Thieves (IMDB)
L. A Taste of Honey (IMDB)
M. Chimes At Midnight (IMDB / Janus Films)
N. The Story of the Last Chrysanthemums (IMDB)
O. Here Comes Mr. Jordan (IMDB)
Part 4
P. Noah Baumbach’s The Squid and the Whale (IMDB)
Q. Kaneto Shindo’s The Naked Island (IMDB)
J looks like a standalone release of EASY RIDER.
Isn’t the first clue Three Kings?
And then D is Lone Wolf & Cub (or Shogun Assassin).
M is, of course, Chimes at Midnight.
Does Chaplin have a beard in THE KID? That kinda looks like McCabe to me.
J is Easy Rider and L is The Honey Pot.
J: Easy Rider? Chopper?
O might be 2010s The Saxophone Player.
Man Push Cart (2005)?
J is definitely Easy Rider.
And I would love a Lone Wolf & Cub boxset – WITH Shogun Assassin.
Could D be Bringing Up Baby? I’d freak the f out.
Maybe E. is BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS instead? BVD has a much higher critical reputation than VALLEY, and the 2-disc set of BVD is long OOP…
